Gowanus Gardens

256 4th Ave in the 1940s

"In one respect the fate Gowanus is like that of the Garden of Eden, which, after being the cradle of the human race, was obliged henceforth and forever to take a back seat. Gowanus, as every well-informed man must know, was the germ place of Brooklyn... Now it's remote from the knowledge of the majority in the great city- as though it were a district in the moon on which the telescope lights only occasional."

About Gowanus Gardens: Gowanus Gardens opened in September 2019, 6 months before COVID. Through the pandemic, annual flooding and rezoning, they have managed (literally) to keep their heads above water by serving up delicious food and drink in the most welcoming way. Gowanus Gardens is a small local spot, and LOVES that their customers are mostly repeats AND live in the neighborhood! Stop in to eat and drink, play some ping pong, come to karaoke or trivia night or just join the conversation!
