From Here to Sunday
Built in 1920 as a residential building, in recent history 567 Union St. has been a storefront celebrating the Gowanus neighborhood and it’s reputation as a haven for artists. Prior to the opening of From Here to Sunday in 2016, this building was home to Gowanus Souvenir Shop, which, according to owner Ute Zimmermann, “started out of my love for Gowanus and that it’s such a weird, beautiful, and nasty mix of things.”
About From Here to Sunday: From Here to Sunday is a small gift shop, gallery, and community space located in Gowanus, Brooklyn that aims to bring joy to its visitors. A delight to the senses, the shop presents a thoughtful curation of highly giftable art that is packed with personality, humor, and care. FHTS centers marginalized voices, while grounding itself in the community by collaborating with local artists and causes.
Founded in 2016 by artist Diana Ho, this Asian woman-owned business proudly houses the work of over 125 artists and creatives, many who are local to NYC. Our curation intentionally includes often underrepresented makers–specifically BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, non-binary, women & femmes, as well as disabled folks–even creative dabblers who don’t often get space or opportunity to play and experiment beyond their day jobs. From Here to Sunday has continued to evolve to serve the local community through hosting art exhibitions, workshops, fundraisers, and gatherings. We believe in the power of radical joy and that everyone should be able to easily access art. Gowanus has always served as a nurturing creative environment for a micro business like this to flourish.
